Monday 20th March 2017 : Departure and transit

The Pourquoi Pas ? left the port of Mindelo on Friday at 18h and is on its way to the Snake Pit hydrothermal site which lies at 23°N on the Mid-Atlantic volcanic ridge where the first operations of the expedition will take place.

On Saturday, the mate reaffirmed on-board safety procedures, of utmost importance especially when you are 5 sea-days from the nearest coastline. For the newly embarked personnel, it was the opportunity to don the survival suit.

Everybody is carefully preparing their material and labs and getting their sea legs, arrival onsite is planned for Tuesday 7h.
